To add references, use the
button in the reference manager (
). There are multiple ways to search for and include sources in both the Library and your essay.
On the right side of the window, choose where you'd like to add the reference. If you select the Library, the sources will be added there and not directly to your essay. You can later include these references in your essay by dragging and dropping them or by using the
button > Add from Library.
The same process applies to collections. References added directly to a collection will appear in the Library but not in your essay.
If you select an essay on the right side of the window, you can add references directly to it. These references will only appear in the Library if the essay is synced (
). Ensure that iCloud is turned on to sync essays with the Library.
You can add references through various methods: Google Scholar search, journal/book search, importing BibTeX, pasting a URL, manual entry, or by creating a custom reference.
